Not a show stopper but be sure to ask where the room is and be away from the walk way.ĥ) I could hear the highway (and the a/c unit). They couldn't see you, but you could hear them. That wasn't very nice to see.Ĥ) Our room was very close to the walkway so you could hear conversation if people were walking by. The temperature in the room kept dropping to 19C and then it was probably 35C with a ton of humidity outside so there was a lot of condensation along the windows. It took until the second evening (the second day had a planned activity) for us to see the ocean, which was kind of funny.ģ) If you have young kids, you don't want to be on ground level at the Zen Jungle or the kids can walk right into the pond.Ĥ) In August, it is very warm. In our room there was a 10' wide pond/river at the end of our terrace which was kind of pretty I guess but for me, if I am near the ocean, I kind of want to see the ocean. I would rather have the choice of walking.Ģ) In the Zen Jungle your room faces the jungle. There's really not even a path, just a narrow road that the shuttle goes down so walking wouldn't even be nice. I wish we would have stayed there.ġ) You have to shuttle from the Zen section to the Ambassador (beach) section and you are discouraged from walking. I can't make any good excuses for not attending except I was too busy eating and drinking :)Ĩ) The Ambassador rooms looked lovely - at least from the outside. No one seemed to ask for it, but everyone seemed to appreciate it.ħ) The gym looked awesome. I tipped at dinner and maybe left a few dollars at breakfast. I believe they are fresh water pools so no horrible smell of chlorine.ĥ) Food was good - we only ate at the Italian place (Lucca) and breakfast at Chaka as 2 evening events were part of my friend's package.Ħ) ALL staff were lovely. Room was always clean, nice turn down at night with chocolates.Ģ) Jet tub, and nice sized shower with rain headĤ) Lovely pool area, both in the Zen section and in the Ambassador section - very clean and the water was very warm. We stayed in the Zen Jungle rooms ( room 1214):ġ) Big room with two queen sized beds, a desk and sitting area. So, let it be clear that I didn't pay anything for this trip. This resort is not exactly in my price range but my friend won a trip through work and invited me to come along. Let me start by saying that I have stayed in Playa del Carmen before at the Sandos Playacar and will be going back to stay at a RIU in October.
